Course Information
Babysitting
The Canadian Red Cross Babysitting Course is updated for today’s youth with the precaution that emergencies sometimes do happen, even to the best babysitters. This course teaches youth how to handle emergencies with confidence by providing the basic first aid skills for such a common problem as:
- Choking
- Sprains and Strains
- Bleeding
- Poisoning
- Burns
- Fire Emergency
For many young adolescents babysitting is their first job Canadian Red Cross can help them become real “pros”. They learn valuable their business as well as:
- important child care skills
- safety tips for children of all ages
- how to cope with common problems, like tantrums and crying
- What to do if anything makes the babysitter uncomfortable
- Some great games and other ideas for having fun with the kids while babysitting
- How to make the children’s environment safe and enjoyable
- hat the respective rights and responsibilities of the babysitter and the family hiring one

Home Alone
This workshop will educate students over the age of 10 on how to stay safe and aware for his/ her surroundings at home to handle emergency situations that can happen at home

This session provides the students basic knowledge on how to prepare themselves for real life emergency situations with basic first aid and learning through interactive tools

Stay Safe
the stay safe! program is designed for youths ages 9 to 14. Our goal is to equip this particular group with the necessary skills to stay safe on their own and within their community. We focus on giving youths age-appropriate skills they require, while simultaneously increasing their capacity to improve safety and respond to challenges accordingly.
- Importance of responsibility and respect while being accountable for yourself
- importance of setting and following rules around safety when staying on your own
- How to stay safe at home and within the community
- How to prepare recognize and respond to unexpected situations (i.e inclement weather, strangers, unanticipated visits)
First aid content
- Check, Call, Care (includes phoning EMS/911)
- Recovery position
- Conscious choking (adult/child alone)
- Asthma & Anaphylaxis (includes use of EpiPen)
- Poisoning, insect stings, would care (i.e minor cuts and scrapes, splinters, life threatening, bleeding, burns)

First Aid Camp
FIRST AID CAMPER – AGES 6-9
Each Camper will learn how to prepare for real life emergencies, how to stay safe during these challenges and to survive each camper will be Canadian red cross stay safe first aider certified and will be bringing home their very own first aid kit too.

FIRST AID CAMPER – AGES 10-12
Each Camper will learn how to prepare for real life emergencies, such as fire poisonous emergency. They will learn how to protect themselves and help others during challenging time. We have also combined the camp with our popular babysitting program. Our Team has prepared a variety of hands on learning experience such as the Zombie First Aid Party where the campers rescue as many lives as they can together. At the end of camp each camper will be Canadian Red cross babysitter Certified and will also be bringing home their very own first aid kit.
Internet Safety for Kids (Please contact our Youth Program Coordinator for booking)
Ages 5-11
This workshop will increase internet safety awareness when using the internet. We educate students to recognize unsafe situations and how they can prevent it from occurring

Internet Safety for Guardians (Please contact our Youth Program Coordinator for booking)
This course will help parents keep their kids safe and secure online. We know that kids will be spending a lot of time on their computers and phones, so we will guide parents on how to monitor their usage, use online protection sites, and also stress the importance of passwords. We will also cover aspects on how to talk to youth about online safety precautions
